Wearing Masks
Are you tired of wearing masks? This year has been filled with mask wearing, but that’s not the kind of mask I’m referring to. What I’m referring to is the energetic and mental masks we wear. Maybe you have a different mask for when you’re at work, with friends, or with family? Do you keep separate the various realms and show a “different” person depending on where you are or whom you are with? Keeping these masks on can be very tiring. It’s like you have to remember which mask goes with each situation. Of course, many of us are so used to wearing these masks that we never even think of taking them off.
What if we could take off those masks and be our true self? Showing people who we really are may be difficult at first. Thoughts of whether they will accept your true self or worry about what others might think of you can take center stage and dredge up a lot of emotions. What if you let that go? What if it didn’t matter what others thought of you? Isn’t that a freeing thought?
Think of all the different masks you wear and choose to take some off and throw them away. If others don’t like your true self, then that’s their problem. You will certainly find others who will love your true self. They’ll be drawn to your authenticity.
So for this Halloween, be the person that you’ve always wanted to be. It might feel like a scary proposition, but it’s one step closer to you being your true, authentic self. The most important thing is that you like you! Take off those masks!!
